Well, you do not need to be panic if this is your first hearing them because in this article, we are going to discuss about it briefly.
A mesh is a 3D object in Roblox including a gear, a hat, or Part. Every gear, hat and package on Roblox, except the Mysterious Object, is made up of one or more meshes. You have to know that in Roblox there are Special Meshes which contain BlockMeshes and Cylinder Meshes. Do you know what the difference between Block Meshes and Cylinder Meshes? Block Meshes is able to be used as a replacement for a Part. The primary difference is that a Block Mesh has pointy edges and is smooth instead of studded, yielded, welded or glued.
How about Cylinder Mesh? It is like Block Meshes where it is able to replace what a Part looks like. It is the same but different from the Special Mesh even though they look identical. Besides those two, there is also Mesh Part. It is a form of Base Part which includes a physically simulated custom mesh. It is not like other mesh classes such as Special Mesh and Block Mesh, they are not parented to a Base Part but rather behave as a Base Part in their own right.
How do we use MeshParts? The mesh and texture of a Mesh Part are determined by the MeshPart.MeshId and MeshPart.TextureID properties. What is texture? A texture object applies a repeating texture to the face of a Base Part. A texture will be able to apply an image to the Base Part it is parented to. The surface this image is applied to is dependent on the FaceInstance.Face property. When the BasePart is resized, the image will repeat. The dimension of the repeating textures is set by the Texture.StudsPerTileU and StudsPerTilev properties. You have to know that the image a Texture applies is determined by its Decal.Textures property. Images are able to be uploaded to Roblox provided they adhere to the community guidelines. You may be curious about the difference between the texture and decal. Texture object is the same as the decal object. But, whereas the image applied by a Decal scales when the Base Part is resized, the image applied by a Texture repeats. Repeating textures have a wide range of applications like floor tiles and wall textures.
